5th September. London Colney 0 AFC Dunstable 0

With 2 proud records at stake on Saturday, something had to give. London Colney had gone 30 league games without defeat and AFC Dunstable were protecting the only remaining 100% record left in the Premier Division.

AFC went into the game without Terry Griffiths and Taishan Griffith who were holidaying. Leon Cashman reverted back to centre back and Josh Humbert came into the midfield. Jermaine Hall had recovered from his knock so led the line with BJ Christie.

With the visitors sitting in 2nd place and Colney 3rd, both probably were looking for the win, but in the back of their minds, a draw would suit, so neither would not open up a gap. To that extent chances were few and far between.

Only 2 minutes was on the clock, when a rasping strike from Cashman saw Charlie May make a superb save. The game was settling into individual battles as neither team gave an inch to each other. Ricky Perks was then called into action, when Ewington latched onto a great through ball. Perks stood his ground and saved well with his feet.

Humbert had the ball in the net for AFC, but was flagged offside as he stood on the far post. He had another half chance later in the half but only hit the side netting.

All the players from each side were given every piece of energy they could and it was showing as the half time whistle came.

Half time: London Colney 0 AFC Dunstable 0

The opening periods of the 2nd half saw AFC start to get on top. They had more of the ball and their possession of it rose. On 62 minutes a sublime pass by Jonathan Cooper picked out Christie, but he lob just cleared the bar. A few corners in quick succession put more pressure on Colney but they coped.

With the game drawing to its conclusion, the home side started to put together some decent play and forced free kicks in dangerous areas. As the home defence earlier, AFC coped with them all and the points were shared.

AFC boss Steve Heath was satisfied with the point saying " we came to win the game but must be pleased in the end with the point. There were 2 strong sides out there and for a 0-0 it was an entertaining game" he continued " both teams gave it everything but good chances were at a premium. I think in the end we cancelled each other out"
