10th December - AFC Dunstable 3 Petersfield Town 1

AFC moved back into a play off place with this win against relegation threatened Petersfield Town. Having been extremely comfortable for long periods of the game, they nearly let it slip by giving the Rams a sniff of a point in the final 8 minutes.

After the fine win at Hanwell Town in the week, the home boss Steve Heath kept and unchanged team. On a horrible day weather wise, the rain greeted the players at the kick off. It looked like the visitors were keen not to let the home side settle, as a few late tackles were coming AFC's way. On 24 minutes another one was delivered which saw AFC's left back Danny Murphy stretchered off.

With the conditions not perfect, it was difficult to hold onto the ball, so chances were hard to come by. With half time approaching a great one fell to Josh Humbert, but from close range and with the pace of the ball, he could not control it and the chance went wide. AFC though did not have to wait long to take the lead. A swift move down the right, resulted in an inviting cross by Adiel Mannion being met by Jermaine Hall to sweep the ball home.

If everyone thought that was the final action of the 1st half they were wrong. The home keeper Ricky Perks was called into action to save a point blank header. Three minutes into added on time, it was the visiting keeper Jamie Bray turn to show off his skills as he turned a strike from Hall onto his crossbar.

Half time: AFC Dunstable 1 Petersfield Town 0

The hosts doubled their lead within a minute of the re-start, when Hall was once again on hand to slot the ball home. Looking to put the game to bed, AFC went all out for the 3rd. On the hour it should have came, when Mannion was found unmarked at the far post. It seemed all he had to do was side foot the ball into the back of the net but contrived to put his effort wide.

With the game seemingly won, as Petersfield could not break down the AFC defence, a lapse of concentration by giving the ball away gave the visitors a chance, which was well taken by Will Essai.

So with AFC being so comfortable with 8 minutes left, the Rams smelt blood and went all out to draw level. They had a golden chance to do such that but their striker missed his shot completely only feet from the goal.

They were punished for that miss, when for the 2nd time this week, Perks set up BJ Christie who sprinted through and notched AFC's third in added on time.
