7th January - AFC Dunstable 4 Chalfont St Peter 0

After nearly 2 weeks without a game, AFC got back to winning ways, after two back to back defeats to fellow play off chasing Farnborough and Kempston Rovers.

The starting line up changed again from their last outing, as skipper Moses Olaleye is unavailable for 2 weeks, top scorer Jermaine Hall was on holiday, Danny Murphy picked up an ankle injury in training and James Bishop was suspended. The team though did welcome back Nathan Frater after his transfer from Bedford Town. Also refreshing was the AFC bench. All 5 subs were either 18 or under which included 16 year old Kyle Ajayi.

Chalfont opened the game quite positive and pushed forward from the outset. Both sides did not really create much in the opening half hour but that was all to change. From the 30th minute to the 34th, AFC rattled in 3 goals.

Their first came when the ball was played into BJ Christie, who held it up for Adiel Mannion to fire home. Only a minute had surpassed and it was 2-0. A 30 yard screamer from Courtney Massay flew into the top corner. The hosts had to wait a further 3 minutes to make it 3. Once again Mannion was on hand to finish coolly.

If the visitors had any thoughts of a comeback, that was quashed within 7 minutes of the re start, when a sublime through ball by Leon Cashman resulted in Christie rounding Rourke Pickford to stretch AFC's lead to 4-0.

As in the Southern League, Chalfont did not give up the ghost and tested Ricky Perks in the AFC goal a couple of times, but he was up to the task to keep them at bay.

Not resting on their laurels, the home side still created a couple more chances as Frater firstly had a shot blocked on the line, then a one on one with Pickford but put his shot wide.

So a good result and performance and manager Steve Heath was pleased with that saying " once again with players missing the team had to be reshuffled again. It was good to have Frates back though, who gave Chalfont problems all afternoon. Looking at my squad now, apart from Charlie Gorman who is taking a season off, all the title winning squad is now at the club. Hoping not to sustain anymore injuries, we can push on again"
