24th March - Arlesey Town 0 AFC Dunstable 7

AFC made it 4 wins on the bounce as they put 7 past bottom club Arlesey Town, who you could say are having a very difficult time at the moment. It was only in 2010-11 that they won the Southern League Central Division and spent 3 seasons in the Premier Division. In that time they made it all the way to the 1st Round of the FA Cup on two occasions.

The visitors went into the game with a very attacking line up. It was manager Steve Heath's plan to be on the front foot from the start and this was proved, as they raced into a 3-0 lead after only 13 minutes.

AFC opened the scoring after 7 minutes, when a great cross field ball from Christian Tavernier picked out BJ Christie who finished with ease. Two minutes later Jermaine Hall got in on the act. From a Newman Carney free kick, Bill Morgan's header was saved and Hall was on hand to head the ball home.

The game was over as a contest soon after, when Hall set up Christie to make it 3-0. The young Arlesey team now knew it was mission impossible to get back into the game. This was confounded on 18 minutes when a fine cross from Christie saw Hall make it 4.

The visitors had to wait a further 20 minutes to register their 5th. From another corner, the unfortunate Keanu Williams put through his own goal.

With points secured, it gave Heath the chance to make early substitutions. The high intensity was not so evident at the start of the 2nd period but Hall was on hand on the hour to make it 6 and complete his hat trick. That goal made it a record score for AFC in their two seasons in the Southern League after the beat Egham Town 6-1 back in November.

Substitute Terry Griffiths was on hand to make it 7, with an overhead kick at the far post with 66 minutes gone. Surely now the visitors fancied their chances of registering double figures. Unfortunately that was put to bed, when Brett Longden received a red card for a dangerous challenge with 20 minutes remaining. That seemed to take the wind out of the AFC sails as Arlesey had a couple of long range efforts as the game drew to a close.
