Under 17's Cup Final Woe

Sunday 12th March 2006

The Under 17's fell at the final hurdle to a very strong Stotfold Under 18's team in the County Cup Final.
With our opponents possessing many players over 6 foot, our lads looked like minnows in comparison.
The early stages of the game was an even affair and to be fair we should have been 2-0 up in the first 15 minutes. Richard Maggott came close on 7 minutes when his shot just drifted wide. Another fine move resulted in a post being hit and the following scramble their keeper hung onto the ball.
Stotfold took the lead on 18 minutes, and when a midfield mistake resulted in a 2nd 4 minutes later the lads heads went down and Stotfold started to dominate.
We competed better in the 2nd half, but once again a mistake at the back let in Stotfold for their 3rd. Phil Feakes should have pulled a consolation goal back in the dying minutes but it was not to be.
